Cheese straws

This recipe is a great way of using left over pastry – I am using puff here but you can use short crust as well. Be warned, they are so delicious no one will be able to resist them!


Approx 100g left over pastry

60g cheddar cheese

1 tbs (tablespoon) Parmesan cheese

A good pinch cayenne pepper

1 egg beaten


When using left over puff pastry make sure you fold together your leftovers – to make sure the straws puff. Roll out to 5mm thick

Brush on the beaten egg, sprinkle with half the cheese and a good sprinkle of cayenne

Fold the pastry into thirds, and roll again

Repeat with beaten egg, cheese, and pepper

Fold again and roll out to 5mm thick

Cut into 1cm strips and bake in a preheated oven 180 fan for 20 mins

Leave to cool – if you can! – and enjoy!
